My role at Suburban is a Foreman for our Electrical Division. I’m responsible for making sure material and people are where they need to be to get the job done. That means working with the customer and discussing their needs and helping them get there. It also means working with team members so they understand the big picture and are all working toward a common goal.
How long have to you been with Suburban?
I have been working at Suburban for nine years.
I chose to work here because…
I work here because I can do a wide array of electrical-related work such as commercial, industrial, technology services, machine moves, and motor controls. If you have an interest in the electrical field, there is no better place to be.
How does it challenge you?
The pace can be a major challenge. When it’s a large building, there can be things that hold up a project for weeks and the end date doesn’t change. This is where you need to get creative in making up time so you can finish when you need to. The people can be a challenge as well. As a Foreman, you interact with the other trades more frequently. They have their own ideas of what needs to get done and many times you need to compromise and work together so you both can get the job done.
What is your career path?
In the next five years, my career path will take me into a Supervisor role. Once there I will be in charge of multiple job sites at once.
